Livio Stabile is a contemporary artist whose artistic practice carries the influence of the Transavanguardia movement of the 1980s and the Italian post-war informal and polymaterialist production. He seeks to bring emotion, figuration, and mysticism back into art through drawing and gestural painting.

A native of Italy, has lived and worked in Los Angeles, California, since 2008. In 2006, he worked in the planning department of architect Paolo Soleri’s urban laboratory Arcosanti (in northern Arizona), exploring the conviction that architecture is a practice incorporating all the fundamental spheres of living.

Medieval density of signs and baroque spatial relations remain strong determinants in his artwork since his formation as an architect in Rome.

To ensure the integrity of the moment, he works with rapid strokes like a calligrapher in an essentially two-dimensional space.
